That showdown last week between Oregon and Michigan was college football at much of its best. No. 1 ranked Oregon Ducks vs. Michigan Wolverines at Michigan Stadium (Big House) | Nov. 2, 2024 But it was a game everybody not only wanted, but needed to see, to determine whether Michigan could upset the No. 1 team in the country.


With quarterback Dillon Gabriel pulling the strings, Oregon quickly flexed their muscles. Gabriel hitting his passes and the Ducks' attack going full bore and bam, they're up. As much as they tried, including a stellar showing from Michigan's defense, the Wolverines couldn't find enough scores. For every Oregon punch — most notably a Tyler Morris touchdown catch and a forced-fumble recovery that gave Michigan a glimmer of hope for a comeback — Michigan answered with ugliness of its own (and/or Oregon firepower).


Oregon won by a score of 38-1712. With this win, Oregon established itself among the College Football Playoff contenders, and Michigan began to wonder what had really gone wrong with this season. It will go down as a memorable chapter in college football history, showcasing the resilience and talent of both squads.
